The Master’s program at PMCA is centered on enhancement of professional capabilities of architects through advanced teaching pedagogy and a dynamic learning process.
PMCA gives plenty of opportunities to the working professionals to bring about a change in the conventional practices through Collaborative workshops with the Government and Non Government Organizations. These innovative workshops are conducted time and again to expose students to the art of place – making and Habitat Design to sensitize them to issues of the built environment. Participation in the collaborative workshops gives students the opportunity to deepen their professional knowledge and skills to implement the principles of Habitat Design on ground in reality.
PMCA in collaboration with Architects’ Sans Frontiers(ASF), Sweden, Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centres(SPARC), Mumbai and Urban Development Resource Centre(UDRC), N.Delhi, organized an In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Workshop in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. The workshop spanned 7 days and was attended by the M’ARCH students. It delved into providing water and sanitation solutions to the urban poor.
The intent of this study was to understand and collect data on the demographic characteristics and social structure of the village, assess the overall physical environment and also to verify the implementation process of the land rights to slum dwellers. This study was undertaken with a group of students from The University of Calgary, Canada and The State Coordination Unit of CURE as a part of a field study for the JAAGA Project of the Govt. of Odisha, under The Livable Habitat Mission. This was part of CURE’s initiative to engage with local institutes of repute.
